“Kouya Daifuku”

It is believed that the Feudal Lord Date said that this rice cake was so soft that it could stretch to the neighboring town (Nagamachi).

The “Kouya” area in Natori City is the perfect place to cultivate glutinous rice because of its fertile black clay soil. “Kouya Daifuku” cake is made from “Miyakoganemochi” rice grown in the “Kouya” area. The white rice cake is filled with smashed sweet red bean paste, and the red rice cake is filled with strained sweet red bean paste.
